Camp Dunlap was a U.S. Marine Corps base activated on October 15, 1942, as a training facility during World War II.〔Hailey, Charlie, "Campsite: Architectures of Duration and Place"; Louisiana State University Press, 2008 (1st Printing) (see page 181).〕 The camp was named for Brigadier General Robert H.
